“Rev. Karen” grew up in a large Presbyterian church in a suburb of Cleveland, OH, where she was active in Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, children and youth choirs, and summer camp and youth retreats at The Highlands. After graduating from High School, she attended the College of Wooster and graduated with majors in mathematics and music. Karen received her Master of Divinity Degree from Louisville Seminary in 1984, and her first pastorate was the Freeport and Nottingham Presbyterian churches in southeastern Ohio. Karen has been Westminster's pastor since November of 1989. Besides the “usual” pastoral duties, she sings in the choir and has participated in many Mission Trips. After coming to Westminster, she met and married Jackson native Brian Kelley. They enjoy their three grown children, five grandchildren, and their cat. Karen serves on the Covenant Gathering Design Team, and is Vice Moderator of Lake Michigan Presbytery. When she’s not working, Karen enjoys reading and watercolor painting. She recently dusted off her violin after about 20 years of dormancy, and now plays it in the Jackson Community Strings under JSo principal violist, Clyde McKaney, who once or twice a year is a guest musician at the church.
