Mission and Program

Mission: Serving Others

The Mission of Serving Others is a key part of Westminster Church. We feel especially called to serve in our local community, and do so in many ways, both in concrete, face-to-face service, and in the ways we share our blessings of all kinds with those in need. Some of our work is more unique to Westminster, especially our work with the Jackson Personal Care Ministry, organized with multiple partner churches and housed at First Baptist Church of Jackson. We also work in coordination with other churches and agencies in our community to support efforts such as Love in the Name of Christ (Love INC). We also reach out to those who are part of our church family in tangible ways during difficult times in their own lives.

Program: Music, Growing in Faith and Discipleship, Fellowship

Either by raising our own voices in songs of praise or listening to music that directs our attention to God, music is an important way that we worship. Sunday morning includes some traditional and some newer music, often arranged or composed by our Director of Music or an elder of the church. An adult choir sings September through early June, and children and youth as well as instrumentalists of all ages are invited to participate in various ways. We also reach out to the community through Sunday afternoon concerts held two to three times per year. This summer we are hosting a travelling performce of Godspell, presented by the youth group Elation, Wednesday, June 21st, 2017.

People of all ages are encouraged to grow in their faith, knowledge, and discipleship (how we follow Jesus Christ) through varied Christian Education opportunities.

Fellowship activities – programs which enable us to have fun and get to know one another better – are offered for all ages.
